Pre-Trip Tasting: August Briggs Pinot Meunier

Hellooooo strawberry cheesecake! Our most recent training exercise involved a bottle of 2010 August Briggs Pinot Meunier. This bottle retails for roughly $40 but since we belong to the August Briggs Wine Club, I don’t know what we pay for it but who cares? It’s one of our favorite wineries and we receive shipments regularly!

We decanted the wine just for fun, and when I stuck my schnozz down into the neck of the decanter, holy cheddar cheese nose Batman! In the glass, the nose showed bursting strawberries and sweet cheese, much like a big ol’ slice of strawberry cheesecake! Super Yum-o-licious.

Light magenta in color, with no tannins to speak of and mucho drinkable right now, this easy drinking beauty has hints of vanilla and a Twizzler’s finish that’s just nice to have with light snacks or after dinner.
